This version allways strikes me as having a unique groove to it. Different tempo/arrangement than normal.Maybe from being off the mark I don't know but I rather enjoy what they do with it.

And the audience version ( if you want to dl here rather than bit torrent the sbd or matrix ) is quite listenable.

Thanks JOTS!

Weir is playing some groovy chords, it's well worth the listen!

Shhhh...I have a reputation to keep!

I'm looking forward to the Egypt release. I'm sure they will be able to somehow "modify" Donna's contribution during the remastering process!

It looks like this Eyes MIGHT be on the new Rock The Cradle (of Civilization) collection. The exclusive third "bonus disc" has the following track listing, the last four tracks of which which looks suspiciously like the end of 9-15-78, minus drums and space:

Dead.net Exclusive Bonus CD
1. “Bertha”
2. “Good Lovin’”
3. “El Paso”
4. “Ramble On Rose”
5. “Estimated Prophet”
6. “Eyes Of The World”
7. “Terrapin Station”
8. “Sugar Magnolia”

That 9-15-78 Egypt EYES has long been one of my faves, b/c it does have a very diff. tempo...hope it's on the new official release.

Here's another EYES that must be checked out...one of the few (only) post-90 EYES I bother with....more than 23 minutes long, jazzy, mellow, but well-jammed and sung by Jerry:

Try this one. The "pipes" are in full force during the Eyes intro. Very interesting stuff.

Great call August! I'm listening as I'm replying - download later. The sad thing is, though, reading the reviews and the way they slag off Vince. Was he really that bad? Rhetorical question, because the answer is NO. He was a bloody good piano player and provided the necessary high vocals. Garcia seemed to write for piano - his tunes seem empty without them (maybe not The Wheel).
I lived in the Bahamas for 9 years and saw the Dead twice in Miami. This Eyes certainly has a Caribbean feel. Can anybody help me with the shows they played Stir It Up or any other reggae.

Here's the only Stir It Up that I know of. The vocal harmonies are harsh, but hey, it was an impromptu performance.

When are they going to work out the Star Trek transporters? I could pop in for a quick pint and be back at work before anyone knew the better. I'll make sure to hoist a pint tonight.

Another good reggae song was Sitting In Limbo, a Jimmy Cliff tune. Again, this was done by various JGB bands and I can't find any evidence GD covered it.

Check out this performance by JGB

Part 2

And speaking of Jamaica, this came up under searching Limbo. Nothing like the Hoff to get the party started.

Nice call Johnny. Kind of sounds like they are playing on a boat in the Caribbean as opposed to in front of a pyramid.

Not sure I would call it my favorite but there is definitely a time and place for this.
